Here is a pic of our Hotel sign in Tucumcari, AZ
We woke up and opened our window to a pleasant surprise. We had a beautiful view of Tucumcari Mountain.
Getting ready to head out on the road again and Brenda was designated as the debut operator of the headcam (GoPro3). We made a lanyard for her out of the straps from a camera bag so she wouldn't lose the remote.
Below are a couple of pics from the camera before it died because I left it on in my luggage. FAIL!, but it takes fantastic pictures and we now have one more task accomplished. We now know how to use the camera and we will have it charged for tomorrow.
Pics from the road in New Mexico.
I love this picture!
People just abandon houses and buildings. They are just left here to rot and fall apart.
Look ahead at the yellow crossing. They are really pretty.
This is it close up.
Awesome detail! I just wish they put as much time into transitions on the roadway as they have on the crossway. I think each one of us donated a kidney today to the road gods from the bumps on the road.
Some more pics from the road.
Love the clouds in this pic
Cool house
This is the over and under passes. It looked like we were driving through spaghetti.
Once again look at the great detail put into this bridge.
We are on I40 but got to enjoy the view of a bridge on 66.
A really cool thing that I had almost forgot about until today. When you are out West you can see a train from beginning to end. I was fascinated by it the last time we were out here and when I seen it today it was great. We seen 4 trains today the whole thing at one time. Pretty cool!
This is the continental divide. Don't really know much about it. I seen it on a post card in one of the shops and asked where it was. It was on our way so we stopped. We got to meet some crazy man named Frank and he took our picture for us. In our defense he seemed normal when we were talking to him but the cashier told us he was crazy and talked to everyone.
Thanks Frank you took a good picture.
Welcome to Arizona!
Not sure what the fascination is with Dinasaurs, but lots of businesses have them.
Yea!!! Our destination for today Holbrook, AZ.
This is a sign from the Route 66 book
Mural downtown
Only the greatest Motel ever. They were sold out so we did not get to stay here but we still got to get some pictures.
This is where we ate dinner. Joe & Aggies Cafe. Famously known for their Mexican cuisine. The food was great and the service was equal.
