Day 8

Today we are still in Tucson but making the most of it.  We are headed to Mt. Lemmon.  We are going to take the Catalina Highway which ascends 6000 ft over 27 miles and goes thru 5 different vegetation classes.

Start of the ride base of the mountain.

These rock formations are called hoodoos

This is us hanging out at one of the lookouts.  You had two options at this stop.  A lookout that had steps and a cage all around it or you could go out and climb on some rocks and get a clear view of everything.  Dad and I immediately headed for the rocks, Brenda informed us that there were no guardrails and we were probably not making a safe choice. We left her! She chose to come with us with reservation.

The sign on this post reads if you jump off of ski lift you will lose your ski ticket pass.  REALLY!  Whats sad is some dummy actually did it and that is why they had to put these signs on the post.

Look down at this pic  I dont think you would have to worry about skiing the rest of the day if you jumped.

This is one of the views on the way up the mountain

This is where we ate lunch at the Sawmill Resteraunt.  It was great we had brisket and spicy sweet potato tater tots.  This is in the town of Summerhaven on top of the mountain.  On top of the Mountain there are 70 year round residents and in the summer it goes up to 150.

This is the view from the top of Mt. Lemmon. 9,157 ft.
